Cheryl Kay Armstrong

Cheryl Kay Armstrong, 71 years, 4 months and 19 days, of Nebraska City, Nebraska, passed away at the CHI Health - St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, in Lincoln, Nebraska, on Wednesday, November 16, 2016.

Cheryl Kay Armstrong was born on Thursday, June 27, 1945, in Nebraska City, Nebraska. The daughter of Charles and Lillian (Bray) Armstrong, Cheryl graduated from the Nebraska City High School and graduated in 1967, from the Peru State College, with a BS in Education degree. She moved to Fulterton, Nebraska where began her teaching career, and taught for one semester,  before returning to Nebraska City, to join the Nebraska City Public School System in 1968, where she taught for 33 years. Cheryl continued to teach at the First Step Pre-school on Nebraska until she retired in 2000. She was a member of the St. Mary’s Episcopal Church and many other social organizations. Cheryl was preceded by her: Grandparents, Earl Bray Sr. and Nellie Bray; John Armstrong and Mary Armstrong; parents, Charles Armstrong and Lillian Armstrong; step-mom, Mary (Crate) Armstrong; aunts and uncles, Doris Jean Vest;  Earl Braye, Jr., Jack Ray, and Everet Vest.
Cheryl is survived by her: special aunts: Mrs. Earl (Betty) Braye, Jr. Of Nebraska City, Nebraska, Mrs. Jack (Eileen) Ray of Sabetha, Kansas; special cousin, Donne Karl and wife Arlyn of Sabetha, Kansas; special friends: Joan Dickman of Nebraska City, Nebraska, Steve and Ronda Johnson of Nebraska City, Nebraska, Erin and Cameron Cox, Furcrest, Washington, Nolan and Leha Johnson of Waterloo, Iowa; many other relatives and friends.
There will be no viewing or visitation at Peterson Mortuary Chapel.
Private family burial will be held at Wyuka Cemetery in Nebraska City, Nebraska
The family suggest memorials (no flowers please)  be given to: St. Mary’s Episcopal Church or Nebraska City Rescue Squad in memory of Cheryl Kay Armstrong.
