Larry Ray Hathaway

Larry Ray Hathaway, 78, of Union, Nebraska, passed away Saturday, January 30, 2016, at the Nebraska Medicine in Bellevue, Nebraska. Larry was born June 14, 1937, in Union, Nebraska, to Louis A. and Eva Elizabeth “Betty” (Arnold) Hathaway. He attended the high school in Union and graduated in 1954. On December 17, 1959, Larry and Nancy Lee Crook were united in marriage, in Rockport, Missouri. They made their home in Union, Nebraska, where they raised their two children: son, Larry Lee and daughter, Jill Nadine. Larry worked at the PCS known as Allied Chemical, near Bellevue, Nebraska, and retired on April 30, 1999. Larry was a life long resident Union, where he enjoyed watching birds, mowing his yard with his John Deere riding mower, visiting with his friends, neighbors, and his family, but his greatest love was being with his four granddaughters and his five great grandchildren. After the passing of his daughter, Larry and Nancy raised their granddaughters, Nadine and Natalie. The last few years Larry’s health started to decline and wasn’t able to do the things he enjoyed. On Friday, January 29, 2016, Larry was rushed to Nebraska Medicine in Bellevue, where he passed away with his family at his side on Saturday, January 30, 2016, at the age of 78 years and 7 months and 16 days. Larry was preceded by his mother on April 5, 1983; father on December 12, 1989; daughter, Jill Nadine Hathaway-Jones on January 19, 2009; brother, Darrel Hathaway; and sister, JoAnn Cogil.
Survivors of Larry include his loving wife of 57 years Nancy Lee Hathaway of Union, Nebraska; son, Larry Lee Hathaway and his wife Lisa, of Union, Nebraska; his 4 granddaughters: Ashley Hathaway and her fiancee' Jesse Drumheller of Union, Nebraska, Maegan Balfour and her husband Nolan of Nehawka, Nebraska, Nadine Jones- Kucera of Omaha, Nebraska, Natalie Jones and her boyfriend, Stephen Green of Omaha, Nebraska; 5 great grandchildren: Chloe D. Cavanzon, Augustus “Gus” Drumheller, Gavin K. Balfour, Acelyn J. Kucera and Grace M. Balfour; two sisters: Mary Barber and her husband Larry of Northglenn, Colorado, and Joyce Mast and husband Larry of Northglenn, Colorado; 4 brothers: Robert Hathaway and his wife Marlene of Firestone, Colorado, Richard Hathaway of Firestone, Colorado, Dwayne Hathaway of Robert Lee, Texas, and Dennis Hathaway of Knoxville, Iowa; nephew, Vern Sparks, wife Sherry and their daughter Stephanie of Union, Nebraska; many other special nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends; and lap companion, Marlea, his dog.
