Margaret Virginia Ott, 99 years and 19 days, of St. Paul, Minnesota (formally of Nebraska City, Nebraska), passed away at the Episcopal Church Home in St. Paul, MN, on Thursday, November 3, 2016.

Margaret Virginia Hall was born on Wednesday, October 14, 1917, in Milo, Iowa, the daughter of James Byron and Margaret Jane (Glenn) Hall. Virginia graduated from high school, graduated from Simpson College with a BA degree, and graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Masters degree in Library Science. She lived in Indianola, Iowa, for a short time of her life. On September 29, 1940, Virginia and Clifford Raymond Ott were united in marriage in Grant Township, Iowa. They raised five children: Frances Margaret, Paula Laverne, Virginia Rae, Terence James and Theodore Jeffrey. With Clifford being a minister, they lived in many cities, in Iowa: Libertyville, Crawfordsville, Varina, Schaller, and Fonda;  Hallock Minnesota; Jamestown, North Dakota; and Nebraska City, Nebraska.   After Clifford’s death, Virginia moved to St. Paul, Minnesota to be close to her family.
Virginia was a Librarian/Media Director for the Nebraska City Elementary Schools for many years before retiring in 1987. She was also very active in Queen Ester Chapter #2 Order of Eastern Star, P.E.O, Delta Kappa Gamma, Questers, Historical Societies, Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators.   She wrote three books. Virginia was preceded by: her parents; two sisters, Mildred H. Dusdieker and Ruth Hammer; and her son Theodore Jeffrey Ott.
Virginia is survived by her three daughters: Frances Margaret Bly of Minneapolis, MN, Paula Laverne Payne of Crystal, MN, Virginia Rae Bly and husband J. George of Minneapolis, MN, and son, Terence James Ott and wife Jennifer of Minnetonka, MN; grandchildren: Jami Bly, Megan Bly, Roy Payne, Tammy Payne, Richard Payne, Jessica Ott, Joshua Ott, Justin Ott, Jordan Ott, and Jeffrey Ott; 7 great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives; and many friends.
There will be no viewing or visitation at Peterson Mortuary Chapel.
A private entombment of Margaret Virginia Ott’s ashes will be held at a later date at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Omaha, Nebraska.
Memorials are suggested to St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, in Nebraska City, or Arbor Lodge, in memory of Margaret Virginia Ott.
