Lanny Ross Niday, age 75 years, 11 months and 11 days, of Syracuse, Nebraska and formally of Dunbar, Nebraska, and Nebraska City, Nebraska, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2015, at the Homestead Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Lanny was born on March 26, 1939, in Union, Nebraska, to Glen R. and Dorothea (Seyfer) Niday. He graduated from the Nebraska City High School in 1956. On September 7, 1958, Lanny and Donna Kay Howell were united in marriage in Burbank, California. Lanny was a route salesperson for the Frito-Lay Company for many years and retired in 1999. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #968, Elks Lodge #1049,and the Dunbar Lions Club and the Masonic Lodge of Syracuse. Lanny was preceded in death by his parents, brother Dick Niday, grandson Jacob Niday and his wife Kay on August 16, 2010.
Survivors of Lanny include his children: Scott Niday and wife Kim of Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania, Troy Niday and wife Pam of Sebastopol California, Gregg Niday of Syracuse, Nebraska and Jennifer Bennett and husband Jay of Firth, Nebraska; nine grandchildren; brothers: Jerry Niday of Ceresco, Nebraska and Mike Niday of Overland Park, Kansas; sisters: Beth Zarin of Ashburn, Virginia , and Martha Ann Komma of Des Moines, Iowa; nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and many friends.
Viewing and visitation will be held on Friday, March 20, 2015, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The family will be greeting friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Peterson Mortuary in Nebraska City, Nebraska and Saturday, March 21, 2015, from 9:00 a.m. until service time, with a Remembering and Celebrating the Life of Lanny Ross Niday Funeral Service at 10:30 a.m., at the Peterson Mortuary Chapel, in Nebraska City, Nebraska. Burial will follow at the Wyuka Cemetery in Nebraska City, Nebraska.
Memorials are suggested to the Nebraska City Jaycee's Little League Baseball Program.
