Robert “Bob” W. Gress, Jr., 71 years, 5 months, 8 days, died Saturday, July 8th, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family, in Nebraska City, Nebraska.
Robert William Gress, Jr. was born on Wednesday, January 30, 1946, in Nebraska City, Nebraska, to Robert W. and Pearl Ellen (Bennett) Gress, Sr. He was known by his family and friends as Bob. He graduated from the Nebraska City High School. Bob married, the love of his life, Connie Christiansen, on Friday, August 28, 1964, at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Nebraska City, Nebraska. To their union they had 4 daughters, Joyce, Laura, ReDeana, and Lisa. Bob worked various jobs before he become self employed laying brick and block as a masonry man, he retired in 2008. He was an active member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #968, where he would always be willing to help out. He enjoyed tinkering with things, but his greatest love was spending time with his family going camping, fishing, dancing, and gardening and his daily socializing with friends over coffee. The past few months, Bob’s health started to deteriorate. He was surrounded by his loving family when he was reunited with his: father, Robert; mother, Ellen; and daughter, ReDeana.
Survivors of Bob include his: loving wife of 52 years, Connie; 3 daughters: Joyce Weber and husband Tim of Tecumseh, Nebraska, Laura Gress and her partner of life Jason Sammons of Dunbar, Nebraska, Lisa Harrah and her husband Robert “Bert” of Nebraska City, Nebraska; son-in-law, Jeff Ruby of Union, Nebraska; 11 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; brothers: David Gress and wife Romona of Nebraska City, Nebraska, Chris Gress of Nebraska City, Nebraska, and Eric Gress of Nebraska City, Nebraska; and other relatives and friends.
Viewing will be held on Monday, July 10, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., visitation with the family greeting friends from 6:30 pm. to 8:00 p.m. and the Celebration of Life Funeral Service of Bob will be held on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. The First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 315 S 16th St, in Nebraska City, Nebraska, with The Reverend Randy Rasmussen officiating. Burial will follow at the Camp Creek Cemetery in Southeast of Nebraska City, Nebraska.
