Robert (Bob) A. Snodgrass, 94 years, 2 months and 4 days, of Plattsmouth (Nebraska Masonic Home), Nebraska, formerly of Nebraska City, Nebraska, died at the Nebraska Medicine-Bellevue, Bellevue, Nebraska, surrounded by family, on September 9, 2015.
Robert (Bob) A. Snodgrass was born on July 4, 1921, to J. H. And Vita (Kunkel) Snodgrass at the home of his grandparents, Reverend and Mrs. B. N. Kunkel in Harvard, Nebraska. Bob joined the Army Air Corps in September of 1942. He received his Military Basic Training in Clearwater, Florida and Biloxi, Mississippi. He attended Aircraft Mechanic School in Biloxi and then Ypsilanti, Michigan. After being assigned to flight status, he attended gunnery school in Laredo, Texas.  Bob and Nadine Borland were married on the 7th of March, 1945, in Laredo, Texas. He was assigned to a flight crew in Tucson, Arizona. Robert and his crew was transferred to Pueblo, Colorado where they flew many navigational and nighttime flights. After the crew became proficient in a B 24 Bomber aircraft, they were sent to Sacramento, California, where they received their over seas assignment to the South Pacific. The crew left the United States October of 1943. The first base was in New Guinea, Port Moresby. The crew moved to several Air strips where they flew reconnaissance and bombing missions. Bob flew several more missions than the other crew members, they took a rest leave to Australia. He flew more than 75 missions, with several of them over 15 hours in duration. Bob received the Air Medal and several clusters, as well as ribbons, for serving in various battle campaigns. Bob and Nadine returned to Nebraska City, Nebraska, were they resided and he worked at the Offutt Air Base as the Facility Manager of Sac Headquarters and after 30 years he retired in 1981. Bob and Nadine had lived in Panama City, Florida, Fort Worth, Texas, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, and many other locations. Bob was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, a Master Mason in Western Star Masonic Lodge #2 A. F, & A. M., and the Queen Ester Chapter #1 Order of Eastern Star, all of Nebraska City. He had sat on several church and local boards during his lifetime. Bob and Nadine enjoyed traveling to may areas of the United States, attending reunions with many of the men who were in the South Pacific, at the same time he served there. After Nadine’s passing on January 31, 2012, Bob resided in the Golden Living Center in Nebraska City before entering the Nebraska Masonic Home in Plattsmouth, Nebraska in 2013. Bob was also preceded by his parents and grandparents.
Bob is survived by his sister Joyce Chezem and her husband Ron of Steinhatchee, Florida; nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives and many friends.

There will be no view or visitation at Peterson Mortuary in Nebraska City, Nebraska.
Graveside Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2015, at 9:00 a.m. at the Wyuka Cemetery in Nebraska City, Nebraska. Interment of ashes will follow.
