Gladys Ruth (Schalk) Huss

Gladys Ruth (Schalk) Huss, 78 years, 8 months and 10 days, of Nebraska City, Nebraska, passed away at the Nebraska  Methodist Hospital, in Omaha, Nebraska, on Wednesday, January 3, 2018. 

Gladys Ruth Schalk was born on May 23, 1939, in Peru, Nebraska, the daughter of Elvin Rockwell and Lydia Schalk. Gladys attended and graduated from the Nebraska City Public High School in 1957.  On August 2, 1959, Gladys and Harold H. Huss were united in marriage in Nebraska City. To their union where born two sons: Mark and Paul. They made their home in Nebraska City. She started working in the Nebraska City Public Schools as a secretary and retired in 1999. Besides being a secretary, Gladys was the homemaker and raised their sons and helped out around the house. Gladys enjoyed playing cards of all types, traveling, and being with her family and friends. She was an active member of Bethel United Church of Christ, where she served in many areas of the church, and was a member of P.E.O. Chapter CF. After many years living in their home, Gladys and Harold sold it and moved into villa at the Ambassador, in 2017. Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, LeRoy Schalk.

Gladys is survived by her: husband of 58 years, Harold H. Huss of Nebraska City, Nebraska; two sons: Mark Huss of Omaha, Nebraska, and Paul Huss and his wife Christy, of Papillion, Nebraska; five grandsons: Ryan Huss, Ethan Huss, Conner Huss, (all of Omaha, Nebraska), Joshua Huss, and Austin Huss (both of Papillion), Nebraska; a sister-in-law, Shirley (Huss) McCord of Nebraska City, Nebraska; many nieces; nephews; other relatives; and many friends.
